Support for birth parents and relatives
Having a child adopted is difficult and you're likely to feel the emotional effects for a long time. Dates or events associated with the adoption and this period in your life can be upsetting but there is help available.
We can offer:
- If you are a Birth parent of a Blackburn with Darwen child and adoption is the care plan, we can access independent counselling support services, for you, from After Adoption.
- After Adoption offers support, advice and counselling to any person whose life has been afected by adoption. If you would like to know more or meet one of their workers, call in at one of the drop in days held on the following dates:

The drop ins are held between 1 and 4pm in the Abraham Room, Blackburn Library, Town Hall Street, Blackburn BB2 1AG - Co-ordination of and advice/support with mailbox contact and annual reviews of contact arrangement.
- If your adopted child is over 18 years old and you would like to try and make contact with them, we can give you advice with regards to services available to help you make contact. This service is known as an intermediary service.
